Target audience:persons with (or in the process of obtaining) higher or secondary professional education in the relevant specialty, or those who have undergone professional retraining in the corresponding field
Studying methods: lecture, practical classes, and a field geological excursion.
After of course, participants will be: to enhance professional competencies reflected in knowledge and skills.
- сollect and select necessary and sufficient initial data for basin modeling;
- study algorithms for constructing geological‑geochemical models and their calibration depending on various geodynamic basin types and formation characteristics;
- identify hydrocarbon generation centers, assess the probability of oil and gas accumulations, and conduct predictive evaluation of their masses and volumes based on basin modeling results at regional stages of petroleum potential assessment;
- at prospecting and appraisal stages of petroleum potential forecasting, identify the most promising targets;
- at exploration and additional exploration stages, predict hydrocarbon composition and physico‑chemical properties in reservoirs, as well as pressure changes with depth in the sedimentary section.
About course: enhancement of professional competencies in applying basin modeling techniques for solving exploration tasks at various stages of oil and gas exploration and production (E&P) activities, considering the advantages, limitations, and constraints of this method depending on the study objects.
